Protecting and Restoring Your Energy

How to Recharge in a World That Constantly Drains You

“I’m doing everything right—so why am I still exhausted?”

If you’ve ever felt that way, you’re not alone. Restoring your energy isn’t just about sleep or coffee, it starts with awareness and small, intentional choices.

Energy is affected by more than just your physical health. It’s shaped by your habits, your environment, your mental load, and how often you pause to refuel - or don’t.

Where Does All the Energy Go?

We tend to think of energy as physical, but there are other drains we don’t always notice until we’re completely depleted.

  • Mental energy: Decision fatigue, multitasking, overthinking

  • Emotional energy: People-pleasing, boundary issues, unprocessed stress

  • Environmental energy: Noise, clutter, overstimulation

  • Physical energy: Poor sleep, inconsistent movement, nutrition gaps

Often, it’s not one big thing - it’s the cumulative weight of many small leaks. And when you’re always on the go, it’s easy to miss the signs until you crash.

The Myth of Hustle: My Own Experience

In the military, I believed that the longer I worked, the better I was doing. Twelve-hour days felt like a badge of honor. If I wasn’t grinding, I wasn’t giving enough.

I even felt guilty if I took a lunch break.

Fitness was important, but I rarely made time to go to the gym during the workday. And that usually meant I didn’t go at all.

Eventually, I realized that by pushing so hard without refueling, I wasn’t giving my best to my work - or to my family. I was running on fumes and burning out quietly. I thought I was doing it all, but some things suffered because I wasn’t taking care of myself.

That experience taught me something I now share with my clients:

Energy isn’t a luxury - it’s a responsibility.
When you protect your energy, you show up stronger for what matters most.

What Coaching Offers: Awareness & Refueling

Most people don’t realize just how many silent drains are wearing them down. That’s where coaching can help.

Together, we:

  • Get honest about what’s draining you

  • Do a simple energy audit - looking at physical, mental, and emotional input/output

  • Create intentional ways to refuel

  • Build habits that actually restore you, not just keep you functional

It’s not about doing less. It’s about doing the right things with the energy you do have—and knowing when to rest without guilt.

Simple Ways to Recharge

Here are a few practical ways to start protecting your energy today:

  • Sleep: Prioritize wind-down routines and consistent bedtimes

  • Nutrition: Eat in a way that fuels you—not spikes and crashes

  • Movement: Gentle, consistent activity (even 10–15 minutes counts)

  • Boundaries: Say no to things that cost more than they’re worth

  • Joy: Make space for what fills your soul—not just your schedule

Small shifts make a big difference. You don’t have to wait for a vacation to feel better.

HER Framework Connection: Energy is Fuel

In my coaching approach, we focus on HER—Habits, Energy, and Resilience.

Why is energy in the center?

Because it fuels everything.

  • Without energy, it’s hard to build new habits

  • Without energy, resilience crumbles under stress

  • With energy, you can think clearly, act confidently, and show up for yourself with consistency
